Construction continues apace on the Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Located 20 kilometres south of the city centre, the project offers a new vision for Cambodia’s capital. The design embodies a strong sense of place, drawing inspiration from one of the oldest civilisations on earth, inspired by its vernacular forms, and responsive to the tropical climate. The overall competition-winning masterplan by the practice includes plans for a new airport city with a state-of-the-art terminal building at its heart, providing the highest levels of passenger experience and setting new standards for sustainability. The renovation of the Architecture and Design Gallery is inspired by an electrical floor box, or a clue left by the building’s original architect, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, that serves as a sly reflection of the Modern Wing’s structural grid. It is from this mundane origin that a system of modular columns is designed to screw into the floor and anchor a range of floating partition walls of different lengths. Read more

Danish architecture studio Cobe announces the completion of The Opera Park in Copenhagen. In a time of intense construction activity throughout Copenhagen, green recreational spaces have become more and more scarce. Yet, in the heart of the dense and historic city center, one of the inner harbor's prime locations has not been developed, but transformed into a lush, green park island, featuring six gardens and a greenhouse. Situated between The Royal Danish Opera and Cobe's soon-to-be-completed Paper Island, The Opera Park offers a green escape from the bustling life of the city. Read more
