BORDERS ART FAIR 2025 – HYBRID IDENTITIES

ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the open call for HYBRID IDENTITIES, first appointment of BORDERS ART FAIR 2025, that will take place in Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello (click here to learn more about this venue) from May 23 to June 06, 2025, and in other prestigious venues and historical buildings, during the same period of the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture.

The last edition of BORDERS took place in Venice in 2023, presenting a great selection of more than 500 artworks realized by 250 artists from 40 countries. The 2025 edition will provide artists and exhibitors with the unique opportunity to present their works to an international audience of professionals as curators, gallerists, collectors, editors and publishers who seek to acquire, publish and encourage the best contemporary art talents.

The concept of HYBRID IDENTITIES explores the complexities of human identity and how cultural and ethnic backgrounds shape our being, creating a unique blend of different influences that form our identity. We all deal with multiple identities and roles in our everyday lives, which are guided by different social, physical, and cultural factors: we create and adapt our identities based on the situations we find ourselves in, and they evolve and change as we interact with contemporary cultures and modern cities. These changes will create new possibilities, which will lead to new and unique identities.

We invite artists and architects to express their own hybrid identities through their work to explore and express the complexities and celebrate the diversity of human experience and how it contributes to the creation of new identities.

BORDERS ART FAIR consists of 3 main events: HYBRID IDENTITIES, SECRET SPACES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES. We are now selecting artists for:

– HYBRID IDENTITIES from May 23 to June 06, 2025, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is May 02, 2025 (11.59 PM your local time)

– SECRET SPACES from June 26 to July 10, 2025, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is May 02, 2025 (11.59 PM your local time)

– FUTURE LANDSCAPES from July 25 to August 08, 2025, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is May 02, 2025 (11.59 PM your local time)

Artists, photographers, video makers, and performers are invited to submit their works. To take part in the selection, send your works’ submissions with a CV/biography, some still images (for video art), links to videos/films/performances and pictures via e-mail to info@itsliquid.com

The participation includes the following services
– exhibition space managed by art professionals
– assisting with customs formalities, international shipping and local transport
– assisting in finding accommodation
– the design and printing of invitation cards, posters
– the global and local press office, publicity, press, banners, totem, etc.
– the realization of the exhibition website and dedicated press releases
– mounting and dismounting of the exhibition
– exhibitions opening event with drinks and food
– a printed catalogue that will include all the participants

The number of works you can submit is unlimited. Participation in the art show requires an entry fee only for selected artworks. Participation is open to artists, architects and designers, associate groups and studios.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.

“Exhibiting in the Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice felt like entering a space that embraces complexity rather than trying to resolve it. The concept is fluid and alive – it allows for contradiction, tension, and intimacy to exist side by side. It doesn’t ask artists to fit into categories but rather to expand beyond them.
