Interview: Sedition
Luca Curci talks with Sedition about the inspiring collaboration during THE BODY LANGUAGE 2025 at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice.
Since its launch in 2011, Sedition has been at the forefront of digital art, bridging the gap between artists, collectors, and public spaces. While music, literature, and film have fully embraced digital transformation, fine art has been slower to adapt. Sedition was created to change that, making digital art as accessible and valued as any other form of creative expression. We’ve worked with some of the most renowned contemporary artists, including Jenny Holzer, Tracey Emin, and Mat Collishaw, alongside leading digital pioneers like Maxim Zhestkov, Sougwen Chung, and Refik Anadol. Our mission is simple: to bring digital art into everyday life – whether in private collections, luxury hotels, corporate spaces, or on the world’s most prominent public screens, like Times Square. As the digital art landscape evolves, so does Sedition. While we continue to support collectors, we are also expanding our focus to businesses, property developers, and cultural institutions, creating a future where digital art is seen, valued, and experienced at scale.
Luca Curci – Sedition has been a pioneer in digital art distribution. Can you tell us about the vision behind the platform and how it all started?
Sedition – Sedition was founded in 2011 with a clear goal: to make digital art something you could collect, display, and experience anytime, anywhere. At the time, digital art had yet to find a mainstream audience – most art was still confined to galleries and museums. We changed that by working directly with artists to create digital editions that could be enjoyed in homes, offices, and public spaces. Over the years, we’ve evolved beyond a collector-focused platform to one that also works with luxury brands, real estate developers, and cultural venues, ensuring that digital art is not just owned but actively experienced.
LC – What trends are you currently observing in digital art collecting, and how is Sedition adapting to them?
S – When we started, digital art collecting was a niche concept. Now, it’s a global movement.
The NFT boom of 2020 accelerated interest, but digital art has existed since the 1960s. What we’re seeing now is a shift in mindset – collectors are focusing less on speculation and more on the art itself, its meaning, and where and how it can be displayed. At Sedition, we’re adapting by ensuring that our works are not just stored but showcased. Whether it’s hotel lobbies, luxury residences, corporate spaces, or major public installations, we’re expanding how digital art is seen and experienced.
LC – What role does Sedition play in shaping the future of digital and video art?
S – Our role is to make digital art an everyday experience. Imagine stepping into a hotel, office, or airport and seeing stunning digital artworks moving across large-scale screens – that’s the future we’re building.
We support established and emerging artists, ensuring that their work is seen in meaningful, high-profile spaces. Our CEO, Dyl Blaquiere, also serves as a judge for the Lumen Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in digital art, reinforcing our commitment to the field’s evolution. Digital art is not just an idea – it’s an experience, and we’re ensuring it reaches the widest audience possible.
LC – How does Sedition select artists and ensure a diverse range of styles in its collection?
S – Sedition is both a platform and a curator. We work with established artists while also seeking out new voices who are shaping the future of digital art. We select artists based on innovation, artistic vision, and their ability to push digital boundaries. Our collections are designed to be both highly curated and accessible, ensuring that collectors, businesses, and public institutions can engage with the best of digital creativity. Additionally, we collaborate with a range of guest curators to bring an even more diverse group of artists and expressions to Sedition. This approach allows us to continually evolve our offerings, ensuring that we represent a dynamic and forward-thinking selection of digital art.
LC- In what ways does Sedition connect corporations and foster a global dialogue through digital art?
S – Sedition doesn’t just sell digital art – we place it in the world’s most exciting spaces. Public art installations – Large-scale displays in Times Square and other major cityscapes. Luxury and hospitality partnerships – Digital art seamlessly integrated into high-end hotels and private residences. Educational initiatives – Collaborations with institutions like Seoul University, bringing digital art into academic settings. By working across these sectors, we help artists gain wider exposure while ensuring that digital art becomes a natural part of contemporary culture.
LC – Your platform operates with digital editions and NFTs. How do you see the future of digital ownership in the art world?
S – NFTs helped spotlight digital art, but the future of digital ownership goes beyond that. At Sedition, we focus on making digital collecting smooth, secure, and effortless. The goal is to create a world where owning and displaying digital art is as natural as hanging a painting. With advancements in blockchain and other technologies, we see digital ownership becoming even more accessible, transparent, and widely accepted.
LC – With the rise of AI-generated art, do you foresee any challenges or opportunities for digital artists?
S – AI is a tool, not a replacement for artists. Much like photography or digital brushes, AI allows artists to explore new creative possibilities, but it doesn’t replace artistic vision. The best artists use AI to enhance their storytelling, not just generate random images. At Sedition, we embrace innovation and support artists who push boundaries, whether through AI, generative art, or new digital techniques, and encourage those still on the fence to give it a try!
LC – What’s next for Sedition? Are there any upcoming features, partnerships, or expansions you can share with us?
S – Sedition is entering an exciting new phase. Some key upcoming developments include:
Expanding our presence at top art fairs and global cultural events. New collaborations with brands, developers, and institutions, bringing digital art into hotels, workspaces, and high-end residential projects. Innovative ways to experience digital art, including connected displays and immersive installations. The future of digital art isn’t just online – it’s in the spaces we live, work, and travel.
LC – ITSLIQUID and Sedition share a common goal of using technology to make art more accessible and engaging. How was your experience collaborating with us on THE BODY LANGUAGE?
S – It was a pleasure collaborating with ITS LIQUID, as we share a vision for pushing the boundaries of how art is experienced. This partnership highlighted how digital art can be integrated into new spaces and reach fresh audiences, and we look forward to more collaborations in the future!!

Its ability to merge art, technology, and innovation aligns perfectly with where the art world is heading.
