VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2024 analyzes the relationship between body and space, and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban contexts in contemporary times, through two main sections: LIQUID ROOMS and FUTURE LANDSCAPES.

LIQUID ROOMS analyzes the hidden parts of our identities, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness. The human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality: a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES are abstract, infinite and conceptual, associated with a sense of freedom and infinite extension. Primarily experienced with the mind, spaces redefine their limits and borders, transforming surfaces in an open flow of pure ideas. This section focuses on the concept of boundaries and structures between body, mind and soul, human identity and the city, the space and the ground.

The enchanting backdrop of Venice served as the ideal stage for a dialogue between the city’s historic grandeur and the compelling artworks exhibited at Palazzo Albrizzi. Among the artists who enriched the exploration of the fair’s central themes, Daniel Han, a Korean-American photographer, stood out with his ability to bridge the poetic and the visual: drawing deeply from his multicultural upbringing in Los Angeles, Han’s work is rooted in the tension of contrasts like city and nature, tradition and modernity. Through this evocative imagery, he transforms the intangible into a visual language, inviting viewers to linger on subtle complexities and unravel the layered meanings embedded in his art.

Offering an immersive exploration into the LIQUID ROOMS theme, Stefania Mecucci is an Italian sculptor whose work explores the intersection of materiality, space, and human introspection. Born in Viterbo, she pursued a degree in architecture, deepening her understanding of spatial relationships and construction techniques. Her art is an invitation to rediscover oneself through “inhabitable spaces” and installations, often crafted from materials like terracotta, wood, stone, bronze, and metals. Through her work, she creates spaces where history, emotion, and identity converge, offering viewers a chance to reflect on their own connections to the unseen and the eternal.

Reflecting how our physical selves interact with intangible elements like emotions, thoughts, and collective experiences, Tina Weaver is a Danish painter whose work speaks her belief that “everything is connected.” Guided by a deep appreciation for love and light, her art seeks to convey these universal themes, asking viewers to experience a sense of harmony and warmth. Tina draws inspiration from her diverse life experiences, blending her passion for culture, design, and human connection into her artistic practice: with the opening of her “Work of Heart” Gallery in Denmark, she has come full circle, channeling her journey into vibrant, uplifting works that celebrate the beauty of interconnectedness and the joy of living.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES pushes the boundaries of perception into abstract and conceptual realms, envisioning spaces that are free from traditional physical constraints, to roam in boundless terrains of possibility. This field fascinates Yana Ostapchuk, a Copenhagen-based architect and visual artist whose practice bridges spatial design and abstract painting. Her work transforms the precision of architectural design into immersive, abstract compositions, exploring how human perception interprets space and structure. Inspired by her experience with digital tools and 3D modeling, her paintings merge virtual environments with physical expression, creating layered and expansive visual landscapes. In her series “Colored Volumes”, Ostapchuk embraces ambiguity, using precise geometries and shifting scales to invite viewers into fluid, open-ended spaces. The interplay of vibrant colors and structural forms evokes sensory responses, ranging from calm to intrigue, encouraging contemplation and exploration and inviting dialogue between the physical and the conceptual, resonating with both the tangible body and the abstract mind. Through this synthesis, Ostapchuk redefines how we perceive and interact with space, both real and imagined.

OUR LOCATION

palazzoalbrizzicapello 001 1

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
