ARTIST OF THE MONTH – SEPTEMBER 2020 Winners

Esther O’ Kelly . Ireland

I make my paintings in Vault Artist Studio’s in Belfast. They are mostly large format acrylic paint applied with thick brushes. An experimental and intuitive approach is at the core of my work. Works are produced in a spontaneous manner drawing upon the unconscious as source material. I work into the painting using wide blades that remove layers of paint while simultaneously creating scratch marks. I like this visceral approach to the medium, quite often it is what I remove from the canvas rather than what is added that creates the focal point of the work.

Renata Pelegrini . Brazil

Pelegrini has a BFA in Visual Arts, BAs in Language Teaching and in Education. She is also a translator and has a Neurolinguistics Diploma. Having majored in painting, Renata has worked her expression around figuration and abstraction and has used this layer-in-between both to communicate with images. Calligraphy has been one of Pelegrini’s triggers to her artistic work. The massive training in this field has intensified the awareness of the movements of the hand and body, such as pressure, direction and angulation. This continuous exercise has guided the artist in her process and has marked her work in different levels along her career.

Teresa Letizia Bontà . Italy

Teresa Letizia Bontà was born in Licata Agrigento in 1981. She approaches the world self-taught photography at a very young age. The first subject who stimulated her it was certainly its environment and the artistic and landscape beauties of his country. Among his favorite themes there are people, women and reality surrounding. His is a simple photograph but attentive to details. Her photos tell what it is and what it was. He creates his first exhibition photographic in 2017 in Licata, enjoying great success and being mentioned in many newspapers.
